Yorkshire Garden with Oak Pergola & Fire Pit Retreat
Project Overview
The existing patio was carefully relaid using reclaimed Yorkshire stone, finished with permeable concrete pointing to allow rainwater to drain naturally through the surface rather than collecting on top. Additional pathways throughout the garden were formed using fine gravel, creating soft, informal connections between each area of the landscape.
Two standout features define the garden design. At the far end of the space, a circular fire pit area has been positioned to take full advantage of the sweeping Yorkshire countryside views. Bespoke timber seating surrounds the fire pit, offering both comfort and a design aesthetic that complements the character of the house.
The second focal point is the impressive oak pergola dining area, handcrafted by Simon Bowler, a specialist in bespoke oak structures. At the time of construction, this was the largest structure he had ever built. The pergola provides shade and shelter over a generous Millboard composite decking area, creating a versatile outdoor living space for dining, seating, and entertaining around the BBQ area.
