Sunken garden with hot tub

Project Overview

This property sits on a hillside, with the land sloping downward from the rear of the house. As a result, a significant portion of the garden was unusable due to the steep incline. The client wanted to transform this wasted space into a functional, secluded retreat for relaxation.

Garden Design

The design features hardwood decking, porcelain paving, and rendered planters to create a modern, stylish garden. The upper patio is paved with porcelain, leading seamlessly to a striking hardwood decking area that houses the hot tub. The rich, warm tones of the decking contrast beautifully with the crisp white porcelain paving.

A staircase, flanked by tiered planters, descends to the lower-level BBQ and seating area. A pergola, fitted with a sail for shade, was built over the main seating area, providing a comfortable outdoor space. Additionally, a custom-built barbecue station was designed to accommodate a Beefeater grill while offering extra storage.
