Award-winning garden design in Roundhay

Project Overview

Our clients had an extremely steep garden which made the majority of their space unusable. In addition, the best spot for enjoying the sun was occupied by two large trees. Our clients wanted a garden design producing that would maximise their space, allowing them to have several usable areas for relaxing, cooking and socialising.

Garden Design

Our design divided the steep garden into three main zones; an outdoor kitchen area, a decking area, and a patio area. Coming out from the French doors onto the lower level of the garden feels like an extension of the clients home. The soft sandstone paving is pleasant to walk on--even in bare feet! There are then several attractive steps framed by lush planting leading to the decking area. These steps are constructed using Corten steel filled with resin-bound gravel. On the tier with the decking area, we installed a bespoke water feature, made with Corten steel. The top level catches the sun for most of the day, so this is a perfect area to enjoy relaxing in the daytime, or sitting by the fire on an evening.

For this project, we won the prestigious Principal Award at the 2022 BALI National Landscape Awards.
